Landscaping and Manscaping

You can file this one under Sexual Education and Grooming! I'm talking about pubic hair, the hair down there that can be the subject of many 'romantic' conversations. Women have it and men have it, but women are put on blast about it constantly. And men need to take more time maintaining their nether region. So, I decided to write a little article on keeping the hedges trimmed.

Pubic Hair
Bush
Hedges
Peach Fuzz
Muff
Carpet

There are many names, just for the hair down there. It is such a common thing that it is necessary to give it many names, so that you can fit it into conversation better. It is a common belief that the purpose of pubic hair is to keep women from getting any "stuff" into their vagina and keep a guys sperm warm.
Deutsch: Frau bei der Intimrasur mit einem Nas...Image via Wikipedia
So what's all the fuss about? Well, in ye olden days people didn't have the hygiene skills to shave their monstrous muffs. "You know what's under my petticoat?" Today, men and women alike are getting sick of those little obnoxious hairs and are insisting they be shaved away.

To bare or not to bare is the question? Do we keep our vaginas shaved in submission to masculin pressure or can we grow our bush and be proud? To maintain an equilibrium, I vote to enjoy and combination of both.

At times, shaving can be annoying. From razor burn to cutting that tender skin, is it really worth it? To enjoy a variety of "hair cuts" is to be as flexible as possible. No one should be judging, or taking score. A given amount of hygiene is expected, and a fair trim is necessary! But let's just be fare, and be free to bare!

Yea, I went there and yea, you should think about it!!

Kirk Cameron Hates Gays

On Piers Morgan last weekend Kirk Cameron, the self proclaimed profit and IMO hypocritical Jesus freak, ranted his disdain for homosexuals. Claiming that homosexuals and gay marriage destroy our social and cultural structures.

Morgan asks what Kirk would say to his children if they were to be gay themselves. His response was just as annoying as everything else he says "just because we feel one one doesn't mean we should act on everything we feel." Denying what we all know to be true, that homosexuality is not just a feeling, it is an inherent nature that some people are born with. Normal NOT Wrong!

Kirk... um, gays aren't the problem with our institutions. The problem with our institutions is that they are designed to exclude certain groups of people based on ancient religious views. You are clearly stuck in a religious time warp, where it's 1800 and people burn witches in city squares. I'm not sure why it is so hard for the deeply religious people to see that loving someone of the same sex is simply a character trait, not to be judged by our (your) puny intelligence! Unless there is some type of denial you are suffering!

Here's the video. What are your thoughts?

Prop 8: Tipping The Scale

Finally, the evil Prop 8 has been overturned. It's been the talk of the nation for days now. Celebrities are rejoicing and the LGBT public is finally getting what it deserve. It's a great time in our history. We are finally reaching a point in evolution where we are beginning to respect and accept those that are different than ourselves.

Ellen DeGeneres discussed the victory on her show saying that she was very "happy" for the decision. Ellen married her wife Portia de Rossi in 2008. Her fame has definitely contributed to the rise of LGBT consciousness.   It's because of great women and men like Ellen that we have come this far.

Eat That
The scale is finally starting to tip in favor of "gay marriage". The time has come for our homosexual friends to experience the same joys and sorrows associated with marriage as the "breeders". Thank god, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully we can say so-long to oppression of all types withing the coming years. It takes time and evolution to change, but I believe people are generally good and are capable of giving up their prejudices.

The best question is "now what". Well, hopefully we will see the full institutionalization of gay marriages. There is still a lot of legal bullshit and papers to be signed, but with the way things are trending I'm hopeful this will occur within the next few weeks or months. Even anti-gay politicians can't be that dense not to see that equal rights apply to everyone!

In other news - Glitter Bombs are the best!

The $50 Lesson

I got this from one of my best friends. It's a true story -- very funny! ~

The $50 Lesson

Recently, while I was working in the flower beds in the front yard, my neighbors stopped to chat as they returned home from walking their dog.

During our friendly conversation, I asked their little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up.

She said she wanted to be President some day.

Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied... "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people."

Her parents beamed with pride!

"Wow...what a worthy goal!" I said. "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that!" I told her.

"What do you mean?" she replied.

So I told her, "You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I'll pay you $50. Then you can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Her parents aren't speaking to me.

Dating Rules Every Lesbian Should Know

You can find the original article at TheOtherTeam written by SLUSH.

SLUSH

Slush is passionate about lgbt rights, filmmaking, dogs, and partying (not particularly in that order). Rather than listening to her talk about herself in the 3rd person, you should say hi on Facebook or Twitter.

Lesbians all over the world  struggle with the question of dating protocol every single day. After all, you’re two women, for goodness sake. How do you know who is supposed to wear the pants and pay for dinner? Invite you in? Go in for the kiss? The truth is, there’s no definitive answer about a lot of these things.
dating rules From the first date to a long term relationship, you have to figure things out how to make things work in your best interest. No need to fear, though. Even though there aren’t any cookie mold answers to all your questions about lesbian dating, there are certainly some good rules to live by.
 Who pays?
It’s an age-old question, and one that causes all of us anxiety at some point as we look at the bill sitting on the table and wonder if we should grab it … Or let her grab it … Or offer to go halfsies?
In general, if you’ve initiated the date, offer to pay for it. After all, it was your idea. Sure, she might wave you off and insist on paying for her share. But offering is the right thing to do (and being prepared to follow up with paying is also essential.)
If your date initiated the date, do at least offer to pay for your half. Depending on your own beliefs, the way she handles that situation might have a bit more meaning to you. (i.e. If she actually letsyou pay for your half, your beautiful illusion of a girl-in-shining-armor might be tarnished on the spot.
For instance, I was out with a woman once, and it came time to pay the check. I like to consider myself a pretty big tomboy, but she in this case was a little more “butch” than I was. She had asked me out, but I did offer to pay my share simply to be courteous (I wasn’t sure if I was really feeling her, if you know what I mean.) Well imagine my surprise when she actually let me do it! I went from “on the fence” to over the fence in a hurry on that one just because I felt like her decision to allow me to pay was in bad taste. (Did I ask for it? Sure. But that doesn’t mean I can’t complain!)
 Who asks?
There are no set rules on who should initiate a date, although there will be clues if you’re the one who should be doing the asking. For instance, if yours is an old-school Butch/Femme pairing, you can bank on the fact that the Femme is most likely waiting for the Butch to make the first move. I know, life’s not fair. Men have been complaining about that one for centuries. I personally love doing the asking and feel a sense of satisfaction from making the first move.
Outside of the above, if you’re really interested in going out with a girl, just ask. It will never be considered inappropriate. Chances are, she’ll be relieved that you took the reins – especially if she’s been giving off the vibe that she’s as into you as you are into her.
 Her place… Or Yours?
Again, there’s no hard and fast rule about where you might decide to crash for the night, although there are definitely some things to take into consideration. For instance, whose place is more convenient (either to where you are now… or where you need to be tomorrow morning)? Whose place is nicer (cable? hot tub? Pool?)? Whose place is more private (i.e. you won’t have to worry about her roommate popping in as you start to get into the mood)?
Then there are other questions to consider based on a well you actually know each other. Do you trust her enough to give her your address? Do you trust her enough to go into her home blindly? If you aren’t in the full trusting mode of your relationship, you may want to stick with public places. Whether you’re at a coffee shop or a hotel, people will be there to hear any cries of distress. Play it safe when you decide the best place for you to spend time together.
Over time, you may find that you always tend to hang out at one place over another. If that’s the case, just touch base once in awhile to make sure both of you are okay with that. You don’t want to offend her by always insisting on your place or never offering to invite her to your place. Similarly, you don’t want to feel obligated to always have her over or to always go to her house. If you’re close enough to be spending that much time together, you shouldn’t have a hard time having the “Your place or mine?” talk at any given point in your dating history.
 Ex Etiquette:
Short answer? No. Meaning, don’t talk about them. Don’t whine about them. Don’t mention how good they were in bed. Don’t mention how much they broke your heart (or worse, how badly you broke their heart). When it comes to ex-girlfriends it’s best to leave them in the past where they belong.
For one, talking about your ex-girlfriend is not a turn on, as it shows you’re more hung up on your previous lover. Nobody wants to feel like they’re a replacement, a rebound, or even worse, just taking up space until you find someone who meets your past expectations. That’s just too much work for one girl to handle and it will undoubtedly lead to negative feelings.
Outside of that, it’s not a good idea to dwell on your ex because that prohibits you from finding a new squeeze. If your ex has taught you anything, it should be what you don’t want. Now is the time to focus on what you do want.
What kind of girl are you looking for, and where are you most likely to meet her? I’m not just talking about Butch versus Femme. I’m talking about lesbian activist? Corporate professional? Sporty sexpot? Granola environmentalist? Think about the qualities you’re looking for, and the things that will inspire you in a partner. You can’t possibly find the girl of your dreams if you don’t have any idea what she’s like. Hope you enjoyed this post, don’t forget to stop by next week!
Rock On,
SLUSH

Marijuana - It's Old As Dirt

The Yanghai Tombs, a vast ancient cemetery (54 000 m2) situated in the Turfan district of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China, have revealed the 2700-year-old grave of a shaman. He is thought to have belonged to the Jushi culture recorded in the area centuries later in the Hanshu, Chap 96B.[112] Near the head and foot of the shaman was a large leather basket and wooden bowl filled with 789g of cannabis, superbly preserved by climatic and burial conditions. An international team demonstrated that this material contained tetrahydrocannabinol, the psychoactive component of cannabis. The cannabis was presumably employed by this culture as a medicinal or psychoactive agent, or an aid to divination. This is the oldest documentation of cannabis as a pharmacologically active agent.
Weed is older than dirt. Go figure. I would have guessed that the usage of marijuana went back a long time. Before Jesus. It's use in rituals proves it's importance through history and internationally. We can't deny this weed has potential!

Protesting : Being Active NOT An Asshole

Protesters, advocates, rebels, radicals - the world couldn't survive or evolve without the effort of courageous groups fighting for their beliefs. I've been to a few rallies. I walked the streets of Asheville topless with the "Go Topless" tribe this summer. I've also been to multiple Pride parades and random protests throughout the area. They are always fun, always liberating and always disputed. When participating in a protests - whether large or small - it's important to accept that you will be faced by other groups that are protesting your protest.
The worst feeling is being faced by oppressors. The old preacher who's damning you to hell for enjoying gay sex. You're out there, speaking your mind, exercising your right to free speech. And so are they. There is a great divide between the liberal and conservative view points. Where acceptance and tolerance are ridiculed and exclusivity is deemed necessary.

You're getting your point across. Don't be an asshole while you are doing it. Obviously there is no need for violence in American protests. We can hold up enough signs and sing loud enough, that violence just doesn't seem necessary. Respect the authorities that are there to protect everyone, from the assholes. And go into the situation with a heartfelt purpose and the goal of promoting your ideas. People can be convinced to see your side, but only if you are rational and respectful with your delivery.

Inspirations For Peace : Martin Luther King Jr.

English: Dr. Martin Luther King giving his &qu...Image via WikipediaThe holiday of Martin Luther King Day, is a time for remembrance and self analysis. Remembering our ancestors of all races, nationalities, gender, and orientations. Remembering the hunger in the fighters, that would protest for freedom and liberty. Remembering those enslaved by ignorance and persecuted by hate. Through our history, there have been many great leaders, truth seekers and teachers of inspiration. Martin Luther King, was all of those.

On this day and throughout the rest of the year (and the rest of your life), reflect on the passion of our great heroes. We should all strive to be more like them. We should inform ourselves and seek enlightenment. To be at peace with the world around us. To accept each other for our differences and learn what there is to be taught. As a nation, as individuals and as one world, we should tare down the walls of bigotry and self worship. We should put up a foundation for peace and prosperity. And look towards the future, where all people are equal and peace is the only currency.

Fuck Formal Writing

After multitudes of formal essays for college, I'm done with formal writing for a while. Fuck it. I've learned the styles, formatted correctly, and used proper language at all times. But I am so over it.

Formal writing is great when necessary. Business, school... that's about it. When you write from the heart, you shouldn't be required to write a certain way. It should be random and sporadic. Use large words, cuss someone out, write dirty erotic stories.

I write my thoughts as they come to mind. In pieces, like a puzzle that you aren't ever going to finish. I'm not going to come back and edit anything later. I don't care if you are offended. People that like my writing, and take it for what it's worth,  know that I take my writing with a grain of salt. Granted I still enjoy sharing information with people, but don't expect anything I say to be spot on. All media is skewed, and all writers will misinterpret something. That's the downfall of the written language. (And possibly a good advantage for using formal writing.)

Hell, there isn't anyone that can say they are perfect, especially writers. Glorious e.e. cummings ... how I love the randomness of it all. Poems with words that are written scattered about. Like it's a trick to see if you can figure out what it's saying. Which often times you can't. Can you figure out what I'm saying? Sometimes art isn't meant to have a reason or purpose. Sometimes it's just words scribbled on a page. Sometimes it's a bored blogger who thinks she has good ideas, and wants them to come across as being a  little strange... to make you figure it out.

It's 2012 now. Everyone is changing it up. Trying to do things a little differently, in hopes to be more open minded. I'm doing that with this blog. If I actually have any readers out there, I want them to see things through my eyes. Things that are important to me, as a sociologist and a general human rights activist. And I'm doing that in my way. With a little bit of humor, and a whole lot of punctuation errors.

Bisexual Invisibility

Bi Pride GraphicBi
Whether you are a man or a woman, if you are bisexual odds are you feel pretty alone. Where are all of the great bisexuals, you wonder. Truth is, on average bisexuals are pretty invisible. Openly bi people are pretty rare. The drunk college girl and the closet bi-guy are skewing the statistics. The in's and out's of bisexuality are annoying to say the least. People always think you are either "in a phase" or "waiting to come out as homo". Men are naturally inclined to be confused by a woman's bisexuality. "Can I get her into a threesome." Other men feel like their bisexual girlfriend will leave him for another woman. Yikes!

Confusing, complicated, bisexuality is a bitch. We're invisible. The homos think we're too straight and the heteros think we're too gay! Although bisexuals have been the leading majority in the LGBT community, and have spent countless hours promoting activism for the community, we still fall through the cracks. The world forces everything into two exclusive and unequal halves, a dichotomy. In a world of heterosexuality and homosexuality, anything else just doesn't work.

Bi women are not "party girls". Although I am very disapointed in the images I turned up while searching Google. Tila Tequila sort of grosses me out and the kiss between Madonna and Britney Spears is so 1990! I'm sick and tired of the horrible stereotype thrust apon bisexuals like myself. We don't have a leg to stand on because all of the minority of skanky bi girls makeing us look like whores... like we would be willing to have sex with anyone.

There's more to bisexuals than meets the eye. We're open to love in many forms. Just because we like girls and guys doesn't mean we are confused or over sexed. We are free thinkers that love and lust despite a person's sexual orientation. I see bisexuals as seeing the world through unbiased eyes. Not just unbiased genitals.

The Button Man

I love the stories of Burning Man. The week long, annual, desert gathering. The original "Occupy" movement. The whole aura of the event is centered around peace and unity. While I was delving into some Burning Man photo galleries, I ran across a man. A man called "The Button Man".

All that I know about "The Button Man" is that he gives out buttons. "The Button Man gifts hundreds of buttons from Center Camp." I need to find out more about this guy. I have a small but growing collection of buttons. At this point I consider it a hobby. Now, I want to go to Burning Man just to get a button from this guy. One more thing to add to my "bucket list".

Inspirations For Peace :: Buddhism

“Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.” ~The Buddha

Buddhist teachings have been such an inspiration in my life for so many years. I want to share some of the knowledge I have gained with my readers.

Buddhism is not a religion, it is a spiritual connection. There have been many "Buddha" , not just one. And these teachers have been leading Buddhist followers for centuries.

Buddha statues in a temple on Jejudo, South KoreaImage via WikipediaBuddhism teaches it's followers to recognize the balance of life and to live their lives in absolute balance. Through meditation, prayer and exploring myself I have found that there is a higher power, an aura and we are all part of it.

Again, I'm not an expert on this. I believe that Buddhism is beautiful and I encourage everyone to look deeper into the tradition. Apply the teachers of the Buddha to your own life. You will feel so much happier when you practice Buddhism.

World AIDS Day

December 1st is known worldwide as World AIDS Day and this year the celebrations are bigger and better than ever. With the spread of social networking and the internet as it is, the World AIDS Day message has spread far and wind. Even reaching me here, in damn South Carolina of all places. I did say, "WORLD" AIDS Day. The individual country backing of this day is phenomenal. The movement has so much support as people are learning more about this deadly virus.

HIV/AIDS
I'm no doctor, but I think I have the basics down. AIDS is a STD (sexually transmitted disease) that originates from the HIV virus.? I'm not sure of the mechanics involved, but it shuts down your body. Luckily  since 1988 when the first World AIDS Day was helped spread the message of safe sexual practice and routine screenings. There is an estimated 15 million people worldwide that are currently suffering from HIV/AIDS.

Please, stay conscious of your physical and sexual health. Use a condom and see your doctor. Men, women, young, old, gay, straight or bi... this message is for everyone. It CAN happen to you. Don't be naive and leave yourself vulnerable.

God Bless.

Cell Phones and Dating : 5 Useful Tips

Cell phone's are great in the right circumstances. But when you're on a nice romantic date, their are rules to using your phone. Keep in mind that different circumstances call for different actions. And no matter what your relationship status is, your date can pull the wild card in the blink of an eye.

1. If this is your first date, and particularly a blind date, DON'T hide behind text messaging. Planning the date, confirming and finding out your date's ETA should all be done verbally. If you don't plan on backing out all together, you should at least be comfortable setting a time verbally over the phone, before meeting in person. This shows your confidence and that you are more than interested in meeting your match.

2. If you have the latest and greatest Smart Phone, DO use the applications to your advantage. Yes, their is an app for that and you should consider using it. Doing so will impress your date with your tech savy ways. Only certain apps are acceptable however. Consider playing some of your favorite tunes, or looking up the closest last minute sushi restaurant. Even standard phones have tip calculators that will wow your date and your servers! But don't play any fart sounds and whatever you do leave the games alone!!

i <3 iTards

3. No matter how important the game is, DON'T continue to check your sports scores. Your date will feel ignored and probably tell you how they are more important than some stupid game. Do your date a favor, and yourself, and wait to check the score once you get home. Even if you've been with your spouse for a long time, it's still nice to show her attention, especially on a special date.

4. People will tell you that too much too soon is a huge turn off. DON'T come on too strong. Nobody wants to know about your last fling and getting too clingy too soon is also a no-no. Consider starting any relationship with the basics. Keep your text flow casual and speak only about the simple things at first. There is plenty of time to revel in the defeat of your former boyfriend and discuss all your embarrassing body functions later. Phone's are not for this, period.

5. DO be careful who you send you're dirty little secrets to. Even if you think it's harmless, odds are it's still a bad idea. Sexting while intoxicated is a great recipe leading to your dirty laundry being shown to half the state! Best case scenario... some guy you barely know will be fighting a disgusting erection while fantasizing about you naked. And it could get a lot worse from there. My advice, keep your underwear on until you're alone in the bedroom... together.

Mandatory Arrest Laws Aren't Working

Those of you that know my story know that I am a victim of domestic violence. Since my experience, I have tried to shine a light on domestic violence and the actual truth about it. It is a common problem that affects millions of households worldwide. It's sick and depressing.

I was looking up some information tonight about "Mandatory Arrest Laws" and was startled by some of the information I found. I knew that these laws were in place, but after hearing more about how they are designed and how faulty they are I had to do some more digging. What I found may surprise you.

First of all, "mandatory arrest laws" require that police officers arrest someone every time they are called to a CDV case. The officers are to assess which person involved is the perpetrator and the aggressor. If both people are found to be at fault, then they are both to be taken into custody. However, officers are trained to assess the situation by first evaluating physical harm and then by listening to the statements of those involved. The problem here is that the person who is actually the aggressor, is going to lie. In my personal situation, the police arrested me solely on lies and the fact that I kicked his ass while defending myself! This is happening way too frequently. I've met many women who have all said that they too were not only victims of domestic violence but are also victims of a faulty legal system. Simply because we are defending ourselves, and actually leave more physical damage in the process, we are being arrested because the law tells the police to arrest the the person who was more aggressive. Then the smooth talking abusive guy comes in and lies and says that they are indeed the victim... getting punched by a girl.

This often leads to a dual arrest. Dual arrests are tricky and I actually got involved in this scenario as well. What happens is the prosecutor is going to look at the evidence against both parties. Given the leniency of many judges (especially against first time offenders), the case will probably be dropped. Another outcome is that both parties are sentenced to community service or the state equivalent, ending with the charges being dropped upon completion of your sentence.

I Will Survive

Mandatory arrest laws lead to a slew of problems. They cause more problems then they actually solve. "Some experts are saying these laws are not helpful at all. The number of murders by abusers is higher in states with mandatory arrest laws than it is in other states." Murder rates are rising in theses states because women are afraid to call police in fear of an arrest gone wrong. It's a terrible thing to get wrapped up in. Not only are victims fighting their abusers, they are fighting an institution that can't understand the error in their ways. Political leaders aren't listening and people are dying. What else is new.

Someone has to do something about this. Not only the arrest laws, but domestic violence in general. Politicians aren't doing it, because taking care of the "home" isn't part of their intentions. We have to protect ourselves these days. Nobody said it was easy, nobody said we wouldn't make mistakes, but sometimes we really do get the raw end of the deal.

God Loves Gays

God Loves Gays

I am inclined to start this blog by announcing that my personal religious path is not that of the norm. I'm spiritual, I pray, meditate, contemplate. I am at peace knowing that I will never know the truth. What I think is and what actually is, is probably two different things! I'm a realist and I know that opinions are like buttholes.

But when it comes to the argument that God hates all gays, I have to snarl and snicker. First of all, "God" hates no one  The eternal being, creator does not give two hoots in hell what kind of a person you are. It is up to the individual how they lead their lives. And whatever negative or positive energy they put out, they will receive again. Hindu and Buddhist religions refer to this as Karma.

Secondly, it is hard to think that homosexuality could possibly be a negative way to live a life. Happiness is variable. It can be defined in many ways and used to describe many aspects of life. Happiness is the belief that our lives (or parts of our lives) are as good as they can be or we would like them to be. "Good"... "Happiness". To homosexuals, happiness is in their choice to love someone of the same sex.

I don't think God is capable of hating, or even "caring" what is it that we do with our lives. It is our decision to be "good". And opinions on what is good differs from person to person. God can't hate gays for doing what comes natural to them. What they are born to be. If God had a decision, I think he would love gays for being organic and naturally who they are. God has Pride!

Cosmo Quiz: Are You Enough of a Bad Girl

Take The Cosmo Quiz

Cosmopolitan, the sexy magazine line, launched a new online quiz that asks girls if they are bad enough. Bad enough for what... is my first response. The test asks what you would do in certain situations and the response are typical, ranging from mild to dirty. Then you get your answers.

I guess it's a typical test, but it just amazes me at how sexist Cosmo can be. My results came back neutral. I'm not too bad but I'm no angel, obviously. It says that I stand up for myself when I need to  but that I draw the line when it comes to being aggressively sexy or vengeful just to turn heads.

So what do you think it takes to be a bad girl? Style, attitude, obsessions? Is it good or bad to be bad? Do guys really like the bad girls? Take the test and let us now what the results are!

All Day In My Pajamas

Why Pajamas Are Better Than A Paycheck

Raising a kid and not working, only to blog, allows me to basically stay in my pajamas all day long. I'm not going to swear that it's a good thing but it is definitely comfortable.

Who needs to wear jeans and high heels around the house? I don't vacuum in stilettos, thanks very much. It's just not practical in my life. I can't bare to think of myself working in an office and being forced to wear heels all day long.

This is where I get into, what society wants us to be doing with our lives. Does a woman working in an office, wearing heels and skirt every day,  have a happier life than a mommy? Well, feminists have been debating that for years. It's called The Mommy Wars and if you look into it, you will find that there are very different opposing view points out there.

Linda Hirshman is one of the leaders in the concept that women should have full time jobs. She believes that feminism has failed to encourage women to leave their home and work in society. Which is what feminism has set out to do, isn't it? Teach women that they don't have to be just mothers? It's supposed to make society better too, according to Hirshman. More workers in the job force makes the economy stronger!

Get Your Copy
My argument is this, I know that 2011 is a lot different than 1960... thanks to women like Hirshman and other feminists. However, I've worked in my teenage years and plan to work in my later years. And to stay at home with my child is truly what I want to be doing right now. I'm thankful for the opportunity to work (however scarce those opportunities might be), but I don't want to. I get more joy from not working. I'm not rolling in dough and I live a fairly normal life.

There are many, many exceptional reasons to stay at home with your babies, while they are still small. I don't think it's a good idea to pop out a child and go right back to work, leaving you child with a stranger. Even another relative. Children do not get the same affection from other people as they do their parents, specifically their mothers!

So, that's why I stay in my pajama's for most of the day. Except on the occasional special outing. Or if company comes over. So, to Linda Hirshman and other feminist leaders encouraging women to get out of the house, back off! Just because your "type" wants to go to work, doesn't mean the rest of us women want to. I like my pajamas, and heels hurt my toes! I understand that you are pushing because you think it's best. However, stop downgrading stay at home mom's so harshly. Being a mother IS a "real job"!

** I started writing this article as a tribute to pajamas. Really! Then it flowed into some weird Hirshman bashing! Anyway, I read this book in college. It's really short, only 150 pages or so. It's so critical and it makes me second guess my decision to stay at home with my son. It's worth reading. It's harsh, but it's real. The theoretical background to her concept is strong and realistic. If you are doing feminist research, get the book.**

Jesus Was Gay

Ok, so Jesus probably wasn't gay. Maybe, IDK! But did any of you guys watch the video I put up in the bottom right? LMAO! I think it's hilarious that the po-lice took the homophobes away. I hope their asses got arrested! To my boys at the end, you are beautiful! Don't ever stop believing in yourselves!

Miss Jane of the Week

I recently started tweeting with @MsJaneProducts and hopped over to their site to check it out. Ms Jane sells different marijuana accessories. She sells T-shirts with their logo, stuff to clean your pipes with and even an at home urin test. So, long story short, there is a contest called Ms Jane of the Week on the site. It's a lot like the famous Miss High Times contest. She selects one girl every week to be featured on the site. Here is my application for the contest!

"When you smoke the herb, it reveals you to yourself." - Bob Marley

bobbie_2My name is Amanda and I'm a pretty bad ass chick! I'm 23 and live in the growing city of Greenville, South Carolina. I write a random blog called La' Riot. Specifically, I talk about feminism and LGBTQ culture
(but I did say it was random). I have a bachelors degree in sociology from USC. My goals are to be a counselor for LGBTQ youth and an avid marijuana activist.

When it comes to my weed smoking habits, I began smoking in college at the age of 18. I started with a glass pipe. Glass is great, it's a wonderfully clean smoke and the glass pipes are all art themselves. A few years after I started smoking, I had a friend who introduced me to
the gravity bong (GB). Home made, with one 3 liter bottle inside a 2 liter bottle filled up with water. I love to get a huge hit off of the GB. It's only for the strong lunged people. I have to take a break from it every once in a while and go back to glass or paper. The GB only takes a small amount of green to get a huge hit. This is great
for the savvy smoker!

I should be chosen as Miss Jane of the Week because I want to gain a
bigger platform to spread the message of positive marijuana use and
culture.  I am a social and human rights activist that is looking to
further her presence in the marijuana community, online and in real
life. I could be a great example for other women looking to become
soulful, educated, marijuana users.
