The Button Man

I love the stories of Burning Man. The week long, annual, desert gathering. The original "Occupy" movement. The whole aura of the event is centered around peace and unity. While I was delving into some Burning Man photo galleries, I ran across a man. A man called "The Button Man".

All that I know about "The Button Man" is that he gives out buttons. "The Button Man gifts hundreds of buttons from Center Camp." I need to find out more about this guy. I have a small but growing collection of buttons. At this point I consider it a hobby. Now, I want to go to Burning Man just to get a button from this guy. One more thing to add to my "bucket list".

Fake Body Jewelry Annoys Me

I've never been the kind of person to fake anything. I'm 100% honest about what I have and what I don't have. I don't have many morals, but honesty is extremely important to me. This is why fake body jewelry annoys the shit out of me.

REAL

I've had many piercings and have 2 tattoos. I don't have a lot of body mod done, but I love what I have and want to get more stuff done. I don't do piercings very well. Over the years I've pierced a few different things and have had to take the piercing out because my body rejected it so intensely.

I was looking around online for tips on piercing your own nose. While the thought crossed my mind to do it myself, I'm not sure I have the balls to actually do it. One of the tips I brought up said to just wear a clip on or a fake. This made my heart sink.
FAKE
Ok, honestly, you shouldn't pierce yourself. Especially if you are a child, and yes 16 is a child! Sorry, get over it! But if you are a grown adult, and you know how to use a needle, and you can handle pain and not fuck up your face... then and only then should you pierce your own flesh. Like I've said before, let a friend help you. And kiddies... don't even try this shit. Get the real shit done by a professional. Save the money and stop thinking it's rebellious  it's just a piece of jewelry not in your ears! And please God, don't wear fake jewelry.

Fake jewelry looks fake. It looks like you are taking the slacker road. Like you can't man up and get your shit done. Fake jewelry is a cop-out. And fake tattoos are even worse. They annoy me to no end. It's so unappealing and only makes you seem like a fake yourself. Harsh reality guys!

If you want to be a bad ass, then get some of the mods done in this video. I mean, when you look at how far these people will go to make their bodies look like art, and then you look at your Clair's clip ons... you just kinda look like an asshole!

Wild Tattoos

Some tattoos get crazy! Raging tigers, colorful fish and birds of every variety. Animals are referred to as our "spirit guides" in many cultures. It's not surprise that people like to display their favorite animals on their bodies as a symbol of their interests and personalities. Here are a few of my favorite from around the internet.

We Need More Pink In Sports

The coaches and teams have all been wearing pink lately. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as we are all told every year. Talk about beating a dead horse, those Breast Cancer People can be annoying. But it is respectable when you see them making an effort to support a female issue.

So it made me start thinking, why don't any sports teams wear pink on a regular basis? Why is pink such a feminine color that men won't even consider putting it on their sport jerseys unless it's for a special occasion.

It's kind of sad that pink is hated by male sports teams. It's just another example of female oppression.

I dare a team to change their official colors to pink and purple... or even pink and black! Pink needs to be respected more. We need a pink revolution!

Caution: May Contain "Faggy Lameness"

I can't say that these tattoo stereotypes aren't true, but they sure are funny! I have a tattoo on my ass but I didn't get it while drunk, I got it because it's my ass and my tattoo kinda says "kiss my ass". And I have one on my back and uh... yeah, it's a peacock, so it's kinda "winged and faggy"! Personally I think tattoos are great no matter where they are, as long as you aren't a guy sporting a tramp stamp!

A Willy Wonka Wedding

What is the wackiest wedding you can imagine? A circus theme, candy land theme, Willy Wonka meets goth-steam punk? Yep... the latter. Check out these images from a wedding in Luna Parc, Montague, New Jersey. The location is a brilliant Victorian style house. The designer Ricky Boscarino is an artist and uses the setting as his canvas. The grounds are covered with original sculptures, frequently made from household items and "junk". In particular, Boscarino uses a lot of glass bottles which reflect light.

The exterior of the house is vibrant. The Victorian eves and curls are painted with bright yellows, blues, pinks and reds. There's even a tower with a huge clock face on the side of the building. This house reminds me of candy, in particular jelly beans (I'm not sure why). There are also a lot of stained glass and mosaic/tile work.

Entrance and side view of bathroom

The interior is just as eccentric.  The tile theme continues on the inside of the mansion. The kitchen is done with bright plates and utensils.

So, what do you do with an amazing space like this? Have a wedding in it of course! Stephanie and Peter decided to have their wedding ceremony at this whacky location. I truly believe it was a wonderful idea and matched the couples personality.

The brides gown was purple and black, beautiful and so nontraditional. The food was vegan and the cake was purple with silver bats. The officiant? Yea, you guessed it... Ricky Boscarino. Who else better to officiate over such a great day than the creator of the wonderful artwork.

I wasn't interested in making an entrance, so Ricky did it for me. He was the last to arrive, blowing a goofy bicycle horn to announce his entrance. We gave out raffle tickets, not telling guests at first what they were for. The winners got to sign as witnesses. We didn't want to choose anyone to sign because I've seen too many people get upset that they weren't chosen for something.

Congratulations to the new couple. And look for Ricky's jewelry line, online or in your local stores.

The house was featured on MTV Extreme Cribs in 2008 and you can find reruns or the episode locally.

I found these from Offbeat Home via Offbeat Bride.

Locks of Pink

Looking to add a little flair to your style while supporting a great cause? October, as we know, is BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH. There are a number of hair salons nation wide that are taking donations for local breast cancer organizations while putting in pink extensions. This is a great way to show your support and donate to one of the best causes available for women. "About 1 in 8 women in the United States (12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime." Breast cancer, next to lung cancer, is the second most deadly killer of women.
Let me take the time to encourage all women to keep a check on their breast health with frequent self exams as well as doctor exams.

Here is the info for one local salon here in Easley, SC (along with their FB page).

For the month of October we will raise money for the Susan G Comen Foundation by placing a lock of pink hair in your hair(much like the feather extensions). We will be doing this by donations only and all money raised will go to the foundation. It will be awesome to have a great turn out for this so share it with your friends and let everyone know. I hope to see everyone there!

Beautiful Brooch Bouquets ::WEDDING::

I can't say that I have ever seen anything like this before. This is new to me and I love it. I know I'm a bit late to the party, after doing some research I've found these in many styles. I saw it for the first time on an "inspiration board" on theknot.com  but I finally found a how-to here. They seem easy to make. Just get a bunch of old fashioned brooches and tie them off with thin wire. Add some frill around the base and some spiraled jewels on wires. Wrap the base together and voila... beautiful huh? I'm going to look at Goodwill and some consignment shops for the brooches! This will look so great at my Bohemian Peacock Wedding! XOXO

pssst.... more pics behind the break!

8 Types of Gay Men

I don't really know how politically correct this is, but it entertains me none the less. Here is a list of 8 Types of Gay Men. Personally, Drag Queens are my favorite. I love them, I think they are beautiful, brave and fabulous. While the list discusses less popular "types" such as the Circuit Boy, they forget to show a basic Queen. So, you can view an entire article on the meaning of "Queen"  >HERE<. This is a cute list and I know how stereotypical it seems, but enjoy it for a good laugh!

Twinks
Body Type: Thin, smooth, often blond, usually with longish bangs and often with highlights.
Description: This young breed of gays is never over 30 and tends to be on the queeny side and hews closely to the conventional stereotypes of gay man. Wild, ornery, and still getting over their coming out issues, the twink is the gay gone wild, and is bait to older men who are into trying to suck off their youthful energy.
Subcategories: The Twunk, the Gay-sian, the A&F boy.
New York City Hang Out: Rush, Campus Thursdays at Splash
Diva of Choice: Lady Gaga
Preoccupations: Fashion, drama, partying, hooking up, college, coming out
Top or Bottom: Bottom
Celebrity Example: Zac Efron
Bears
Body Type: Large, hairy, often with facial hair
Description: The bigger, generally older subset of the population is new but increasingly popular both in the community and pop culture. They have their own social calendar that is well populated with events to support the flannel-clad butch lifestyle of beards and beer guts.
Subcategories: Cubs, Otters, Wolfs, Gorillas
New York City Hang Out: Woof!, Snaxx, Nowhere
Diva of Choice: Cyndi Lauper
Preoccupations: Food, hair, coming up with silly bear puns, Tom Colicchio
Top or Bottom: Bottom
Celebrity Example: Kevin Smith
