Fuck Formal Writing

After multitudes of formal essays for college, I'm done with formal writing for a while. Fuck it. I've learned the styles, formatted correctly, and used proper language at all times. But I am so over it.

Formal writing is great when necessary. Business, school... that's about it. When you write from the heart, you shouldn't be required to write a certain way. It should be random and sporadic. Use large words, cuss someone out, write dirty erotic stories.

I write my thoughts as they come to mind. In pieces, like a puzzle that you aren't ever going to finish. I'm not going to come back and edit anything later. I don't care if you are offended. People that like my writing, and take it for what it's worth,  know that I take my writing with a grain of salt. Granted I still enjoy sharing information with people, but don't expect anything I say to be spot on. All media is skewed, and all writers will misinterpret something. That's the downfall of the written language. (And possibly a good advantage for using formal writing.)

Hell, there isn't anyone that can say they are perfect, especially writers. Glorious e.e. cummings ... how I love the randomness of it all. Poems with words that are written scattered about. Like it's a trick to see if you can figure out what it's saying. Which often times you can't. Can you figure out what I'm saying? Sometimes art isn't meant to have a reason or purpose. Sometimes it's just words scribbled on a page. Sometimes it's a bored blogger who thinks she has good ideas, and wants them to come across as being a  little strange... to make you figure it out.

It's 2012 now. Everyone is changing it up. Trying to do things a little differently, in hopes to be more open minded. I'm doing that with this blog. If I actually have any readers out there, I want them to see things through my eyes. Things that are important to me, as a sociologist and a general human rights activist. And I'm doing that in my way. With a little bit of humor, and a whole lot of punctuation errors.

I agree! That came to my mind when I started my blog a few months ago. Being proper and have a conform writing style just kills all the creativity.
I found myself asking myself: "Is that right? What will others think? Will they understand me? Is it ok to write it that way?..." You're right. Your article is a wonderful statement. I totally agree with you.

P.S.: I love that tshirt!
